Palmeiras and Chelsea join the Club World Cup semifinals

The upcoming 18th edition of the FIFA Club World Cup™ will see a total of seven teams battle it out for the prestigious title: In addition to the representatives of the six continental associations, Chelsea FC, SE Palmeiras, CF Monterrey, AS Pirae, al-Hilal SFC and al-Ahly SC, the champions of the host country, al-Jazira Club, will also be involved. Current CONMEBOL Libertadores champion SE Palmeiras and reigning UEFA Champions League winner FC Chelsea do not enter the tournament until the semifinals. The Brazilian top club from Sao Paulo will face either Mexican CONCACAF Champions League winner CF Monterrey or Egyptian CAF Champions League winner al-Ahly SC on Tuesday, February 8, live from 5:25 p.m. on SPORT1. Jochen Stutzky is the commentator. English top team FC Chelsea will play its semifinal on Wednesday, February 9, live from 5:30 p.m. on SPORT1 against AFC Champions League winner al-Hilal SFC from Saudi Arabia, host al-Jazira Club or OFC representative AS Pirae from Tahiti. Preview coverage from the SPORT1 studio will already start live from 5:00 p.m. Presenter Jana Wosnitza and commentator Oliver Forster will be in action on the microphone.

The Best FIFA Men's Coach Thomas Tuchel wants next major international title with the "Blues"

Chelsea FC are the clear favorites going into the tournament and should be highly motivated, as the FIFA Club World Cup trophy is one of the few that the "Blues" still miss in their great collection of titles. In any case, the statistics favor the team of the three German internationals Kai Havertz, Antonio Rüdiger and Timo Werner, because in the past eight editions, the team from Europe has always triumphed. The most recent was FC Bayern Munich, defeating Mexican representative Tigres 1-0 in last year's final – at that time still under the direction of Hansi Flick. This was the second time since 2013 that the Munich team had been crowned Club World Cup champions, while Real Madrid is the record winner with a total of four tournament victories. Chelsea FC are now looking to add their name to the prestigious list of champions, and for the newly-crowned The Best FIFA Men's Coach Thomas Tuchel it would be the next major international title. The Final of the FIFA Club World Cup will be broadcast live on Saturday, February 12, on SPORT1, also with a 30-minute preliminary coverage starting at 5:00 p.m. Again, presenter Jana Wosnitza welcomes the audience from the studio, Jochen Stutzky is the commentator.
