The broadcasting of all matches of the Women’s Volleyball Bundesliga live and exclusively on “SPORT1 Extra” is an elementary component of the cooperation between the Volleyball Bundesliga (VBL) and Sport1 GmbH, which was concluded in August and once again significantly expanded. The license agreement, which runs exclusively for Germany, Austria and Switzerland until the 2025/26 season, includes not only the broadcast of all matches in the new pay model per season, but also a total of at least 28 regular season and playoff matches of the 1st Bundesliga in free-TV on the regular Friday evening slot. The rights package also includes the DVV Cup matches (except for the DVV Cup Final) and the Volleyball Supercup on Saturday, October 2, live from 5:00 p.m., between Dresdner SC and SSC Palmberg Schwerin. The new season of the 1st Bundesliga kicks off with the rematch of the DVV Cup Final between SSC Palmberg Schwerin and SC Potsdam on Wednesday, October 6, live from 6:30 p.m. on “SPORT1 Extra” and on free-TV on SPORT1.

Further sports highlights on ”SPORT1 Extra” to kick off: Soccer, motorsports, ice hockey, the Men’s Volleyball European Championship as event streams

In addition to the Women’s Volleyball Bundesliga, event streams from the program of the pay-TV channel SPORT1+ will also be offered individually as a pay-per-view option on ”SPORT1 Extra”. In addition to this, SPORT1+ shows soccer from Europe and South America, popular motorsport series such as the NASCAR Cup Series, the IndyCar Series or FIM Speedway, as well as top European ice hockey from the Champions Hockey League (CHL). Currently, the men’s 2021 European Volleyball Championship is scheduled live and exclusively on SPORT1+ until September 19.

In the future, the No. 1 contact point for all sports fans: Sports offering on “SPORT1 Extra” to be successively expanded

In the coming months, the range of sports as well as competitions and leagues on ”SPORT1 Extra” will be further expanded. The ambition and goal of Sport1 GmbH’s new multi-sports streaming platform is to provide a comprehensive range of different sports, competitions and pay products for the sports sector, also from other external providers, centrally bundled on ”SPORT1 Extra” in the future. This will give viewers interested in sports the opportunity to keep an overview in the often opaque “jungle” of different sports packages and price models, as well as to find and easily book their preferred sports and competitions in their preferred offer and price model.
